Ellie Hovel started this petition to Cleveland State Community College

Cleveland State students are requesting that we not use the Honorlock proctoring software. Professors have begun using a new software called "Honorlock" that you must download onto your device in order to take an exam. This software takes a picture of you, a picture of your ID, and a 360 degree scan of your room before starting the exam. Once started, it then records your video, audio, and screen throughout the duration of the testing period. This software is an extreme invasion of privacy, making many feel very uncomfortable, and not fair to students that are forced to download it in order to access their tests. The ultimatum of either relinquishing privacy rights or accepting a 0 is not fair to students.  Students have no idea who could be watching them on the other end of the camera or who is listening to them, much less what is being done with said recordings. Florida State University currently has a petition out to combat this, along with many other schools, and Chattanooga State students were given the option and students felt uncomfortable, so they did away with it. Students and parents alike, help us combat this invasion of privacy for yourself, fellow students, and/or children of CSCC!
