Winter is a young Bottlenose Dolphin living at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. In 2005 Winter unfortunately became caught in a crab trap, resulting in the loss of her tail. She was moved to the aquarium and was then fitted with a prosthetic tail. Winter has become the local attraction in Clearwater, with a movie based off of her story.
We are asking Clearwater Aquarium to please turn down the loud music that scares poor Winter on a daily basis. It has been reported that Winter spends the majority of her time cowering in the corner of her tank, terrified. Although there are no specific studies citing loud music scaring or damaging Dolphins in captivity, it's common sense to know differently. Dolphins use echolocation to track down their food, locate their family and to communicate - this is all solely based on sound. Loud music penetrating a dolphins tank can cause havoc with their hearing. Help Winter have a better life, please turn the extremely loud music down, so Winter can swim peacefully.
