Clearer Communication to Lower Division Nursing Students before the end of the semester

The current sophomore class in the Lower Division of Howard University's Nursing Program would like clearer communication and clarity from the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. Since Fall Semester of 2016, we have been told that summer courses were under review to be dismissed and on February 23, 2017 we were told by Dr. Janalyn Edmonds, Dr. Tammi Damas, the Associate Dean of the Division of Nursing, and Mrs. Suzy Guerrier-Adams, the Director of Student Affairs that a curriculum (that would not include summer courses) was approved by the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences and they were waiting for approval or dismissal from the Provost of the university to move forward with the process. As we are nearing the end of the semester, we have no idea what to expect as far as summer classes happening or not and many significant accommodations would need to be made if the curriculum was denied or dismissed such as housing, paying for the classes out of pocket, flight costs and scheduling of other courses, if needed. It is very important to us as students to be included in the communication of this process since it effects us directly. Many of us cannot afford to pay for both housing and the two summer courses out of pocket and if the curriculum is denied, most of us will have to change majors, transfer schools, etc.
**Also, the lower division students of the nursing program would appreciate better communication and transparency from advisors and faculty. Many times our advisors have no idea what we are talking about after attending Brown Bag meetings with Mrs. Adams, Dr. Edmonds, and Dr. Damas. We have to constantly reach out to them and they never respond to emails or are available during their posted office hours. We do not feel like a priority to our advisors and although we have meetings with administration, it is never clear to our advisors or other faculty in the building what was told to us which leads to miscommunication and confusion.
