Protect Lake County's Wetlands and Wildlife Corridors from development

Protect Lake County's Wetlands and Wildlife Corridors from development
Why this petition matters

Lake County, CA is known for its pristine wetlands and important bird area/layover for millions of migrating birds. It's also home to beautiful vistas and recreation. Bass fisherman travel from all corners of the globe for tournaments. The project applicant is a Lake County landowner, currently residing in Sebastopol.
This 257-acre "potential project" is in Lake County's designated Scenic Corridor, and permitting for commercial cannabis should not be allowed. In the last three years there have been numerous violations. Illegal use and permitting for commercial cannabis on Lake County's shoreline. On August 11th, UP 20-51, Lamperti Farms, will come before Planners for a decision.
Please join us in signing this petition for our community, wildlife and tourists to protect the shoreline from further degradation.
** UPDATE AREA REMEASURED - 1,200 properties are within boundaries less than 1/4 mile, the local indigenous Elem Colony is less than 1/2 mile away, and 94.15 total acres of US Federally protected wetlands with a shoreline of 1,300 feet is the adjoining parcel.
We believe the project will negatively affect our health, quality of life, property values, and inhibit wildlife movement that may not be able to handle the development. Many species like the Long-legged Myotis and Western Pipestrelle bat that live in the Keys were not addressed in the Initial Study, neither were other wildlife mammals including minks and river otter, Peregrine Falcons frequent the area each year and Osprey nest within sight of the potential project.
Cannabis studies with wildlife, especially birds and bats, should be a concern along with all the obvious impacts to our Scenic Corridor.
Lake County planners might be moving too fast. An Environmental Impact Study should have been completed before considering this project.
Planned are TEN minimum outdoor cultivation areas, a chemical storage shed, and a security building. Water would come from ten 5,000-gallons tanks which would need to be monitored to make sure direct lake water is not pulled as it has been for agricultural use. Harvest storage and staging areas will be constructed and the cannabis will be transported out.
Remember cannabis is NOT agriculture.
