I am taking no for an answer!

Many high schools have already cancelled graduation, as opposed to postponing or even making a virtual one, without the consent of the students amid the COVID-19

If you haven't known, many universities have faced this type of backlash for cancelling their graduation without the input of their students. As a result, they have switched towards a postponement of their respective graduation in lieu of a cancellation.

So why should it be any different for High Schools students?

I understand that right now, were living in a state of uncertainty for the future. But one thing that I'm certain of is that if the situation becomes better soon, why should we have a definite no for our graduation when we can have it pushed back to a later date?

That's why I'm imploring the Class of 2020, the students of high-achievers, the students that innovate and dream big, the students that defy the status quo and push boundaries, to push for this change.

With the signatures, I would build credibility for advocates to reach out to me and as a result, I would be able to facilitate change within by reaching out to schools and districts as a result!

We shouldn't get our Senior year robbed. We deserve our graduation. As a first generation student, it would mean the world if my family can see me walk on that stage, getting a diploma and seeing me achieve something that they couldn't.

I'd imagine there's more students that fall under that same circumstance as me, where they would want their families to enjoy that once in a life moment. Maybe there's students with other circumstances that would yearn for a graduation.

So if we can please push for a postponement instead of a cancellation for many schools, that would be greatly appreciated. Our school is saddened at the fact that our graduation is cancelled without our feedback. Now more than ever, we need to work together to save our Senior year for one last time. As they say, high school graduation is only once.

Please push for change, Class of 2020!!!
