Clarksville needs special needs changing tables in their parks
Why this petition matters
All public parks in Clarksville have bathrooms available and accommodating for every citizen of Clarksville. Unless you're disabled. If you are a disabled child or adult with incontinence, you may find yourself being changed on the cold nasty floor. If you can fit on the floor in the stall. Or you're welcome has just run out and you'll have to leave immediately to a location safe to be changed. This is our reality. We have a disabled 7 year old who we have been forced to decide to use the cold hard nasty floor, or leave the park immediately. My son was born and raised here, yet not a single park can accommodate him. This is the reality for many citizens in Clarksville with disabilities. The average changing table hold up to 50lbs, the average weight of a 3-4 year old. Thus leaving every other disabled citizen over 3 years of age out of the equation. Because of this, most families and caretakers of disabled citizens simply are forced to avoid the public parks in general. The average handicap changing table holds around 200-300lbs and would drastically improve the quality of life for disabled children and adults in Clarksville.
