During the coronavirus pandemic, schools have been shut down across the nation. A lot of students and teachers are experiencing an online format for the first time. Instructors have had to figure out how to change their in person format to an online format with little time to prepare. This not only affects how the students have to learn, but it affects the quality of the education for a lot of courses.

During my time at Nevada State College, I’ve found that several students’ grades have been impacted negatively just because of the format in which they had to learn due to COVID-19. Students, including myself, feel robbed of our education that we are paying so much for.

For the Spring 2020 and Fall 2020 semesters, the grades earned in courses should not be included in the overall GPA, as they do not accurately represent the performance of the student. Students should also not be paying full tuition when they aren’t even allowed on campus. Students pay a lot for their education. The recourses that are available through campus increases performance. A students tuition also reflects those resources.  If students aren’t allowed access to those resources, they should not have to pay as if they are available. Nor should their GPA have to reflect semesters that they were not offered the same resources they were offered before the pandemic.
