Bats have an innate ability to transmit at least 6 well documented DEADLY viruses and up to 60 other lesser known, they are the most prolific hosts of these diseases. Hendra and Lyssavirus in Australia have been well documented, however with emerging evidence of Bats interacting between Australia and Malaysia we could soon add Nipah Virus to the list. Bats are also reservoirs for SARS, Rabies and Ebola.
Teachers, staff and 880 students are running the gauntlet from their car into work every day.
The cars are getting ruined from exposure. Kids cannot partake in lessons outside due to the bat noise and also the unhygienic conditions. On the way down to the Agriculture Farm the bats are hanging so low from the branches the kids can touch them!
Kids are coming home with faeces on their clothes, shoes and schoolbags.
Sometimes the kids are also not eating their lunches because of the stench and the fact there is excrement all over their table or bench.
We are extremely concerned about the disease and viruses these animals harbour. Lives are at risk!
We do not want to harm the bats.
