Postpone the Hub until a consultation takes place and all safety concerns are addressed

Clackmannanshire Council are closing the Alva Community Access Point (CAP) and relocating it to Alva Primary School (the Hub) in order to save money.
We, the parent council, feel that it is unacceptable that there hasn’t been a consultation with Parents and Carers at Alva Primary. We feel this consultation must take place before any further work is carried out and the CAP is moved.
The Parent Council also has major concerns regarding the safety of the children with current plans as they are. The current plans will relocate the infants upstairs in the ‘newer section’ of the school so P1’s and P2’s will be required to climb these steep stairs several times a day, it would just take one child losing their footing or a fire alarm and there could be serious injuries. The infants will also lose their flexible teaching area, a massive asset to the learning and teaching that goes on in the school. This area is used everyday. There are also safety concerns that once the Hub is open, it will become considerably more difficult to ensure that ONLY those that should be entering the school are able to do so.”
