PETITION TO KEEP THE OPEN OUT OF SIGHT STAY EXERCISES
0 have signed. Let’s get to 500!
We, the following CKC members in good standing, petition the CKC Board of Directors to defeat the motion to amend the Obedience Trial rules as published in item 12.30 of the September 2017 Agenda.
It is our belief that:
1) The Open stay exercises are an extremely useful tool in every day life. They promote a simple and quick method for judges to assess the training and temperament of all of the dogs in a class. They require that that dog be able to behave calmly in close proximity around other dogs, not displaying signs of separation anxiety, excessive friendliness or aggression.
2) It is wrong to remove the Open stay exercises due to safety concerns when there is no data supporting the claim that they are, in fact, dangerous.
3) There is no certainty that replacing the existing Open stay exercises with the proposed Change of Positions exercise and the Long Sit exercise would be supported by existing competitors or draw new exhibitors.
4) If the Board of Directors wants to implement new exercises, it would be better to add them as an option rather than discard the existing long standing exercises.
