To the detriment of many dedicated, law abiding modellers spread throughout the United Kingdom, who already pay a subscription fee to the British Model Flying Association for insurance purposes, the CAA's registration proposal for RC Drones and other Aircraft will result in further restrictions and costs being experienced / incurred.

Amongst all the rhetoric of recent UK airspace changes, the CAA's proposals have been met with disdain, anguish and feelings discrimination throughout the RC community.

Overall, the consultation covers a charge proposal for the Government mandated 'UK Drone Registration Scheme', which will be launched on the 1st October 2019 and become a legal requirement under the Air Navigation Order (ANO) from 30th November 2019. The proposal includes preventing the ownership of drones by those under the age of 18. This is unacceptable and will strangle associated businesses.

From the 1st Oct 2019, the costs of those running the scheme (CAA) will be borne by those who use it under the 'user pays principle'. This is because as a statutory body, the CAA has made it clear that they may recover costs by means other than centralised government funding.

Whilst this is the funding model used for 'actual' aviation regulation functions, for example regulation of pilots, engineers, general aviation, airplanes and airports, it is Protect RC's view that such a method for relevant hobbyists is wholly unacceptable, discriminatory and detrimental to many individuals' rights and freedoms.

Protect RC believes that recent developments have compromised the European Convention on Human Rights and is likely to further alienate legitimate RC enthusiasts.

The Proposed registration scheme should not be allowed to progress. Please help by signing this petition.
