TIP Funds Must Not Be Repaid

Please sign this petition that asks the Virginia Beach City Council to deny the request made by Mr. Boyer, Mr. Lyons and Mr. Kortarides to repay the TIP fund $1.5 million.

The 2017-2018 Virginia Beach Resource Management Plan is using $1.5 million from the TIP fund to purchase garbage trucks.

Phil Boyer, President of the Virginia Beach Restaurant Association, Russel Lyons President of the Virginia Beach Hotel Association and George Kotarides, President of the Atlantic Avenue Association have called for the City of Virginia Beach to reallocate $1.5 million dollars to be repaid over five years back into the TIP fund.

The Virginia Beach TIP fund is funded by taxes on restaurant meals, hotel rooms, cigarettes and amusements. All Virginia Beach residents pay taxes on all of these services, therefore, all Virginia Beach residents contribute to the TIP fund. The monies in the Virginia Beach TIP fund should be used for the benefit of all Virginia Beach residents and does not belong solely to the financial benefit of the Virginia Beach Restaurant Association, Hotel Association and Atlantic Avenue Association.
