We the people of St. Martinville here by you demand that our tax dollars be used to hire more night shift police officers. Our little town was once peaceful quite place to raise our children. Now we are burying our children due to gun violence and an inadequate amount of night shift police officers. We have been struck with tragedy after tragedy. Our male youth are dying before they reach their 21st birthday. Our community suffers with frequent gun discharge, bullets flying through houses as we live in fear to even allow our children to play outside fearing for their lives. Crime has increased at an astounding rate. Our little community is overwhelmed with death. Never have we ever had so many homicides unsolved and shootings as we have experienced in the last past 10 years. Our community is drowning in a sea for violence, tears and pain. We call upon the city council with accountability in mind that they will do what they were elected for by us, the people.
