Stop the elimination of Sunrise to Sunset Hours at the Whittier Trails
This petition had 2,635 supporters
Early mornings and early evenings have always been the ideal times to be out on the beautiful Whittier trails, avoiding the heat of the summer day and skin damaging sun rays. However, City of Whittier Chairman Bob Henderson and Hacienda Heights Improvement Association Mike Hughes have been in full support of eliminating the Sunrise to Sunset hours to a set fixed times of 9:00am to 5pm/6pm Preserve-wide, consistent with Hellman Park hours beginning on September 18, 2017. If we allow this impertinent change to take effect, the Whittier residents and other local neighboring city residents will no longer be able to enjoy the early mornings or early evenings at any of the Whittier Trails. No one appreciates the Whittier preserve more than those who actually experience the beauty of it every week before or after work hours. Eliminating ideal early morning and early evening trail access hours at all of the trailheads is not the best solution to the problem with the high number of visitors and complaints from local residents adjacent to Hellman Park and Hacienda Hills trailheads.
Please voice your disapproval and sign the petition to urge City of Whittier Chairman Bob Henderson and Hacienda Heights Improvement Association Mike Hughes to restore the Sunrise to Sunset hours that we’ve long so enjoyed at our local Whittier trails. Sunrise to Sunset hours do not need to be eliminated at all trailheads.
