Stop rezoning of property to Unit Development in Bosqueville

We, the citizens of Bosqueville, respectfully request for the Waco City Council to deny the rezoning of the property at Rock Creek and Steinbeck Bend to a Public Unit Development (PUD) property. The rezoning that has been recommended would allow for 200 + units of housing. Bosqueville is a small community, that does not have the capability to support large growth of this capacity. Bosqueville Independent School District (BISD) is already at capacity for the number of students it can accommodate. In order to support this much growth, BISD would have to expand the school. This would cause taxes in the area would to be raised. Since there are few businesses in Bosqueville, much of this burden would fall on the home-owners in the area. Furthermore, traffic on our narrow roads would increase tremendously, potentially putting our community members at an increased risk for an accident during travel. Increased traffic near our schools places our children at an increased risk for injury. Our concern also extends to the potential inhabitants of the PUD property. With only a few businesses in the area, there is an extremely limited potential to gain employment near the PUD. There are no stores in the area that would allow easy access to necessity items (eg. groceries). Access to health care is extremely limited in the Bosqueville area. Finally, there is no public transportation available in the Bosqueville area. Even if public transportation was extended to encompass this PUD, it would be on a limited schedule since this would be the only public transportation stop in Bosqueville. Also, adding additional route/s for the Waco public transit system will increase costs for the City of Waco (new drivers, increase fuel costs, more buses, etc.) With all of these points in mind, the only person/s that would benefit from the rezoning of this property would be the developer/s. Again, please stop the rezoning to PUD on the property at Rock Creek and Steinbeck Bend, for the best interest of all.
