The water delivery infrastructure in the old Garsfontein area has aged beyond its useable life and is prone to frequent disruptions. The community of Garsfontein is therefore inconvenienced and often deprived from this important resource, which is actually enshrined in article 27 of the South African Constitution.

The community is painfully aware that we are complaining about a service that is yet not available to all of the citizens of the city. We however need these basic services in order to remain economically active and effectively contribute to the community of this city. In the last year, we have been plagued by numerous, virtually weekly water disruptions.

We propose a renewal project of the old cement/asbestos piping to a more modern solution that is more reliable. In the end this will probably also reduce the running costs for the city.
