Unnecessary destruction of precious mature trees/greenspace and natural erosion protection.

I’m signing because I’ve spent my entire adult life doing research to conserve nature and I know how critical habitat corridors are to healthy wildlife populations. Shrubs are not adequate substitutes for trees in an healthy ecosystem.

What was the point of this? Did they really need that steep hill for construction? Then to go back on their promise to put in trees. This is very typical of the city. Say anything to placate the residents. The city cuts down way more trees than are necessary. Just look in the parks where they are extending the bike paths from Donmills to Lawrence. They have cut an ugly swath about 30' wide to make an 8' bike path. So many irreplaceable old trees gone.

I live in Leaside and this is an awful mess and a waste of perfectly healthy trees.

Metrolinx needs to honour its original commitment and replant the trees.

This is egregious. A clear cut like this cannot be permitted to happen in our city. So much is lost when a canopy is removed especially to those who live close by.
Metrolinx should be held responsible for planting 274 replacement trees on this land as they originally promised.

I am sick of the destruction with no consequences. City of Toronto should go after Contractors who DO NOT fulfill contracts! This is NUTS!

This is absolutely shocking. Imagine what would have happened if a homeowner had tried to do this to one tree.
