Jennifer Sousa started this petition to City of Talent

Our Phoenix-Talent Community has endured a devastating year! Over 2,300 homes were lost in the Almeda fire on September 8, 2020. Thousands of our families have been displaced and are in need of a place to live. We are looking forward to bringing these families back to our community as soon as possible. There are currently several possible locations for FEMA to place emergency housing in our area. Last Thursday we were notified that the city of Talent is considering our Little League fields on Rogue River Parkway as one of the contingent locations. Not only have these fields been home to Phoenix-Talent Little League for over 50 years, they are also one of the few remaining landmarks in our community following the fire. If this location is selected, it would lead to the destruction of two of the main fields, the concession stand, parking lot, maintenance shed, batting cages and bathrooms. This would leave us unable to utilize the facility. Our children have already struggled tremendously this year. Several of our families have lost everything and are looking forward to this season in hopes it will bring some normalcy back into their lives. This is not just about baseball, it is about giving our kids an opportunity to move forward after such a difficult year. Please support the children of our community by asking the city of Talent to remove our fields from being a contingent location for FEMA housing.
