Jenny Karas started this petition to City of Surrey

The City of Surrey has been trying to protect and preserve our green space, our Green Infrastructure Network. However new developments jeopardize this as they want to build big, but need to tear down our trees to do so.
There is a proposed development on 125B street that wants to destroy Protected Trees. These specific trees are an important part of Surreys natural habitats and ‘Hubs’. This hub is called Whalley West and only one of five left in northern Surrey.  These Hubs are crucial to Surrey’s healthy biodiversity.  They are home to protected species- Eagles, Falcons and Osprey. Why should we tear these down only to build a massive townhouse on a small, quiet, no-thru street that simply can’t handle the high traffic? When will the City stop depleting our green space and just say “No”?

Lets help remind them why green space and “Protected Trees” should not to be destroyed  at the very first request of a development.  Just because a developer thought this would be a good idea, doesn’t mean we have to sit by and watch them build it.

The City has spent a lot of money and resources creating strategies and plans to help protect these very areas. Just because someone has asked to build on these spaces doesn’t mean they have to say yes! And If the City wont say “No”, then we will!

Let’s say “NO THANK YOU” to the City of Surrey. Because our opinions should matter too. Our City’s future depends on it!
