On street parking to help make Main Street pedestrian-friendly

We do respectfully request that the Council implement additional traffic calming measures on Main Street, specifically on-street parking on both sides of Main Street, between Eldorado Street and Federal Street.
Based on community consultation undertaken by the Main Street Co-op, one third of the respondents identified that their number one priority for the precinct, was to see traffic calming measures introduced to create a cafe strip ambience and to make it pedestrian friendly.
The proposed traffic calming measures will alleviate safety concerns without affecting vehicular traffic during peak times.
This is consistent with the Glendalough-Joondanna-Osborne Park-Tuart Hill-Yokine (GJOTY) Local Area Plan laid out by the City of Stirling (CoS) which is part of the City’s commitment to planning for a better future for CoS residents. This will help achieve in making Main Street a place where local communities engage in local hubs, local events and activities.
