The city of Seguin has a ban on ALL constrictors which makes no sense what so ever. In the city ordinance code writer under the title “prohibited animals” it states no reptiles in the family boidoe are allowed to be kept even with a state regulated license. Under the family it has “pythons” written in parentheses, which we all know are NOT included in said family. Ball pythons are the most docile snakes in the animal kingdom and have been bred and raised in captivity for as long as I can remember, yet they still are not allowed. I feel like this ordinance needs to be looked at and altered to remove ball pythons and other smaller constrictor families from this ban. The family boidoe also includes snakes such as Kenyan sand boas and other small boas. This makes no sense to me at all. I can understand larger snakes as they are more often than not mistreated and released due to people not understanding what they’re getting into when they purchase them. I hope this petition helps the city of seguin reconsider this ban. I have included a link to the city code for those who would like to see what I’m talking about. Thank you for your time.
