In December 2020, during the pandemic, while many residents are working from home and college students have returned home, the San Ramon City Council voted in favor of implementing permit parking at the Trevari Community of Gale Ranch. This action has put more stress on surrounding communities, as there is not enough public street parking available nearby for the residents. Moreover, since the streets at Trevari are not through streets, the new parking restriction has technically changed Trevari to a private community benefiting ONLY Trevari's residents. This is while Trevari's streets are still considered public streets, being maintained by the City of San Ramon using our tax money. Moreover, the enforcement of the parking restriction is performed by the San Ramon Police Department, which is another publicly funded agency. We, the residents of San Ramon, believe that such treatment is unconstitutional, as the public funds (our tax money) are being used for private benefits while access and public benefits are being restricted. We request that San Ramon City Council either remove the parking restriction at Trevari or change Trevari's streets to private streets maintained by Trevari's HOA.
