Hello and thank you for your time!

I am starting this petition to put a traffic light on Washington street where it intersects with Albatross. This is a busy street with a great walkability but unfortunately not enough protection for pedestrians.

Recently my fiancé, dog and I were crossing the street after bringing our dog to the animal hospital on the corner at this busy intersection and my fiancé and dog were hit by a car. We had signaled the pedestrian crossing signs and the crosswalk was fully lit up but a car making a left during a busy time of day smashed into them, barely missing me as well.

Luckily they both survived but not without injury and lots trauma! Thankfully many people rushed to help us, and the heroes at the animal hospital were able to bring our dog right back inside their office for treatment. After talking to many witnesses that came out of their nearby businesses to help us after the accident we discovered that they see near misses and pedestrians being hit by cars in this particular intersection far too often.

My hope is that the city of San Diego will agree with me that safety of their habitants should be a priority! Let’s stop the pedestrians and their animals being hit in this busy intersection!
