Annie Kaftor started this petition to City of San Diego

What I propose: I propose to make a portion of Kate Sessions Park a gated dog area for unleashed dogs and the rest of the park be dedicated to childen and families. If one part of the park - including a part of the big hill - is gated, there will be less chance of another toddler or small dog being knocked down or bit by a dog. I believe this is a fair compromise because dogs can still be unleashed at Kate Sessions but in an area dedicated to them.

Why I care about this issue:  This issue is near and dear to my heart because I was bit by a dog at 4 years old and chased down the street by a “friendly” dog. Just the other day, I went to Kate Sessions and a dog ran up and scared me, while the owner just laughed at me. I know there are many other adults who are scared of dogs, as well as parents of small children, and owners of small dogs - all who are fearful of untrained or disobedient dogs running off leash. As members of this community, I believe we all equally have a right to enjoy this public space without fear.

I realize the majority of dogs and dog owners are friendly. Therefore I think this is a fair compromise to maximize a shared public space.

If this petition passes, myself, more families and small dog owners will feel safer going to Kate Sessions.
