Randy Alton started this petition to City of Rockville

The Rockshire Village Center has been the heart and soul of our community for over 4 decades. There has been a shared use of this center by many stakeholders and any changes will have dire consequences.    Whether it was the retail component, parking for a swim meet, going to a school event, attending nearby church services; this center has lived up to its name by serving as the central hub of activity for our local communities.   This petition requests that the City of Rockville purchase this property.  We need more amenities for this side of Rockville.  Land use is scarce in this area.  The right retail would thrive.  The close proximity to Wootton High School and Robert Frost Middle School can attract the kind of retail necessary to have economic sustainability.   If this center is rezoned, the parking for the stakeholders, whether leased or deeded, will forever be changed.   Housing will take the place and occupy the space often used for community events.   This will adversely impact the communities west of I-270.   We also find serious safety and ADA concerns at our nearby schools.   The lack of separation of buses and cars from students and staff is a result of a poor parking design at the high school.   The Rockshire Village Center has worn a plethora of hats, none more critical than the stability in this corridor for the various stakeholders for the aforementioned concerns.    Please sign this petition.  You can also testify during Citizens Forum on most Monday nights, send letters or e-mail the Rockville Mayor and Council at mayorandcouncil@rockvillemd.gov.
