This concerns the Confederate Monument located on the square in downtown Rockingham NC.  This monument was erected on November 14, 1930 by the UDC  Pee Dee Guards Chapter.

No where in my reading have I heard or seen in print that these monuments were erected for any purpose other than to remember our fallen ancestors and to make future generations aware of our history and to be aware of the pitfalls of repeating this history.  This us made evident by the words "Lest We Forget" inscribed in the monument.

As a lover of history I am asking you to sign this petition to save the Confederate monument.  We cannot erase history, but we can work together to improve our future.
