With Rochelle, Illinois being one of the busiest and most popular railfan destinations in the United States, the recent implementation of quiet zones are a risk to both Rochelle's tourism and people's safety. With many young children have an interest in trains, this could be a potentially dangerous situation near the Rochelle Railroad park as trains can quite literally sneak up on people since they are very quiet until they are right near a person. This also poses a threat to the tourism industry in Rochelle. The quiet zones may ward off railfans and this means less sales for businesses and restaurants around Rochelle. People seem to forget that train horns are not just there to allow the engineer annoy people, but actually serve a purpose of letting people know that s several thousand ton freight train is coming and is not able to stop for nearly a mile. Not to mention, the railroads were build several decades before most of the people moved there. Overall, the quiet zones only exist to solve noise complaints and serve no other purpose. We cannot risk people's lives just because some people don't want to be woken up by an approaching train. The quiet zones only do more harm than good.
