We've been rallying behind people to get a confessions chat for some time. While I don't visit the City of Pride discord server often, I want to provide an outlet for people to rally behind one central cause and discuss the issue of not having a confessions channel in the chat.

There are a multitude of reasons as to why this would be beneficial and I'll outline them below as key points that people who may sign this petition can get behind.

An example of one of these reasons is in fact activity throughout the server. Recently we've seen a decline in active users to the City of Pride discord server, and this is becoming an issue that's grown over the last few days with an average of 8 messages being sent in the days before the current (The 8th of November, 2021.) This will boost activity in a number of ways, one of them being that the members have something new and fresh to interact with. This can give some short term satisfaction to the users who've been begging for a confessions channel for the last month or so. Talking more mid term, we can see that having a confessions chat may cause some sort of in server conflict or debate, this may seem like a bad thing but if treated well can boost the message count and possibly bring people in. Longer term however, well you'll just have to wait and see.

Another way that this channel would benefit the server would be as a use as an anonymous venting channel. You see, some people want to vent their frustrations  but don't want certain... thoughts to be publicized. This provides users ways to vent about their crushes, interests and horrible things going on without a fear of judgement, which is arguably something many people could deal with due to the fact that this server (despite being advertised as a "safe space") can seem a bit hostile at some points, with even moderators jumping immediately to insults and sarcastic comments towards users who are inquiring about stuff.

One issue that may come up is that people may use the bot to be nefarious and troll, while I think this could be an issue, this can easily be solved  by getting more  moderators in or getting mods specifically for confessions, letting people confession ban (meaning they can't confess anymore) toxic users and allowing unbans on the condition that it isn't a later offense. I think that it should be handled with care and one thing that goes into that is the fact that some people may say something they regret in the heat of the moment.
