The City of Portland has declared that a beloved building mural is an "advertisement" that is too big and must be removed. The mural is a beloved tourist attraction and declaration of Portland's famous bike culture with no advertising element. Bureacracy at its worst, the city is forcing the pedal tour shop owner who painted the mural to remove the text.
This is Portland! Save the bike culture celebration and ask the city to make an exception for a non-commercial mural that everyone (except the big media conglomerates that prefer billboards) loves.
Rules are made to accomplish a goal - not to be an end unto themselves. Pursue the goal of limiting obnoxious advertising, not the letter of the rules to the destruction of a source of local pride!
