This petition is starting due to the fact the City of Pittsburgh will be implementing a city wide COVID vaccine mandate. I am trying my best to reverse this mandate for multiple reasons. The Mayor of Pittsburgh, Bill Peduto failed to discuss this matter with ANY of the city's unions. The city also gave a very short notice to ALL employees unvaccinated to either decide on getting the vaccine or search for new employment. The city is making the mandate effective December 22nd, 2021 and must be FULLY vaccinated by then. They are requiring us employees to receive the first dose, wait two weeks to get the second dose and then wait a following week for vaccine effects to wear off. The city has been making employees test weekly for the past 2 months and has been effective with this action. It is entirely wrong to make us dedicated workers choose between getting a vaccine or being unemployed. I believe I can speak for most of the employees that the weekly testing should still be available to us to continue our employment with the City of Pittsburgh. We make a huge impact on our city, why ruin the great successes we have achieved just over a simple vaccine that does NOT prevent the COVID-19 virus? Please think carefully about this and give this petition a signature to help keep hundreds of employees employed!
