The Scottsdale company “Sunday Goods” wants to open a Medical Marijuana Dispensary at 1616 E. Glendale Ave., Phoenix AZ 85020. City of Phoenix zoning rules require a marijuana business to be 500 feet from residences and 1,320 feet from houses of worship. This business would only be 318 feet from homes and 599 feet from a place of worship.
This application has already been turned down by the City of Phoenix’s zoning officer, but the Scottsdale businessman who owns “Sunday Goods” won’t take NO for an answer. He is asking the City to break the rules for him. Tell the City of Phoenix’s Board of Adjustment that in our neighborhood we expect businesses to follow the rules.
STATEMENT OF OPPOSITION
I am a resident of the City of Phoenix and it is my understanding that a Scottsdale company by the name of "Sunday Goods" wants to open a medical marijuana dispensary at 1616 E. Glendale Ave., Phoenix AZ 85020. City of Phoenix Ordinance Section 623.D.124 requires that a medical marijuana dispensary facility cannot be located within 500 feet of a residentially zoned district or within 1,320 feet of a place of worship. The location listed in the application submitted on behalf of “Sunday Goods” is just 318 feet from homes and 599 feet from a place of worship. This is blatantly against Phoenix Ordinance Section 623.D.124. The City of Phoenix’s zoning officer has turned down this application and I am requesting that the Board of Adjustment does the same.
