Allow Mike Sniffen to continue as Fire Chief for the Peekskill Fire Department.

The City of Peekskill has asked 2nd Assistant Fire Chief to resign his position so that his son can take a position as Career Firefighter for the City. This is the same situation that occurred last March with Chief Malaspina. At that time the Council waved the nepotism clause and the Chief was allowed to continue his position. The Volunteer Firefighters Association feels that this is unjust and will have an adverse effect on the Department. We are asking that the Council allow Mike to continue in the position and subsequently move up the ranks to Chief of the Department. We also ask that the Council change the policy to not include the Fire Department since it is not like any other Department in the City and will stop us from having to go through this every time a family member is involved.
