Help find a permanent facility within the City of Onkaparinga for the Hub Gymnastics Club

We The Hub Gymnastics Club draw your attention to our request to find a permanent facility back within the City of Onkaparinga where there is a shortage of opportunities for residents to be involved with a professional gymnastic organisation such as the Hub Gymnastics Club.
With regard to our recent deputation at the Onkaparinga Council we would like to give everyone a brief history of the club and our decision to move to Cosgrove Hall.
The club started in 1985 at the Hub Recreation Centre in Aberfoyle Park and was a very successful club for nearly 30 years through several different management organisations of the Onkaparinga Council owned facility. In 2013 the Onkaparinga Council engaged a new management organisation (Spaclubs) who immediately increased the rent by 450% and brought another gymnastics group to the centre which was included in their contract with council. The Club was forced into a difficult position by Spaclubs and a decision was made to relocate to Cosgrove Hall in the Marion council region. All other user groups of the Hub Recreation Centre also left the venue under similar circumstances. After 9 months the Onkaparinga council withdrew the contract to Spaclubs.
Unfortunately no real attempt was made by the council staff to address the damage done by a poor decision until this year when the club received support from the Mayor, Lorraine Rosenberg and several councillors, and external support from Nat Cook (MP Fisher) and Steve Murray (Lib candidate for Davenport). At this stage there is no immediate plans, venue or dates but very strong support and clear public communication from the Mayor Lorraine Rosenberg stating she wants the club to return home to the Onkaparinga Council region. The club is excited by the prospect of having a home where the equipment can be permanently set up and more classes are available every day of the week. We will keep everybody informed to any developments.
A motion will be put forward at the next council meeting on Tuesday 12th December. The Club would like all members and supporters to sign our petition requesting that Council seek options and opportunities for The Hub Gymnastics Club to relocate to the City of Onkaparinga which will be presented at this meeting.
The petition therefore requests that Council seek options and opportunities for The Hub Gymnastics Club to relocate to the City of Onkaparinga to enable the Club to deliver programs that promote healthy active individuals and communities in a sport that currently does not fulfil the needs of its residents. There are currently several council owned facilities that are underutilised that could be made available for a not for profit community club such as the Hub Gymnastics Club.
