Stop the New downtown Bus Exchange

Stop the New downtown Bus Exchange
This petition is being created to help voice the opinion of the city of Nanaimo residents in opposing the development of the Old Jean Burns and adjacent property into a bus exchange/park infrastructure.
The city of Nanaimo wants to create the land of the old Jean Burns building and the adjacent property into a new bus exchange and park area. I am asking people who are OPPOSED to this, to please sign this petition. The space could be used for a much greater purpose to help promote and refurbish downtown. I have been a downtown merchant for Over 16 years and lived and worked in the downtown area for over 30 years. This new space needs to be developed into an arts District or utilize the space and make it multi use . Have more retail and restaurants down below , office space in the middle and maybe even potentially creating a boutique hotel on top.
We need to draw more people downtown and create this beautiful harbour front downtown area into a place people want to come and visit. Having a bus exchange in this location will devastate all of Victoria Crescent and surrounding area. We are already having multiple problems with the homeless Congregating in open public spaces that are close to the downtown Salvation Army. The city just had to take action and fence off the new park area they built along Nicol Street and Victoria Crescent so they could get the homeless out of this area. We do not want this fight with a prime piece of real estate dead centre in the downtown area. If you are opposed to this please sign this petition voice your opinion and make it heard so we can make downtown prosper.
This is what your signature will tell the City of Nanaimo:
I am signing this petion because I strongly OPPOSE the construction of a new bus exchange to be developed on the land of the old Jean Burns building located at 2,4, 6 Commercial St. In Nanaimo, BC.
