Amanda Duran started this petition to City of Modesto

Robert Kennedy spoke from the stump throughout his political life. He spoke in town squares, universities, street corners, churches and other public places advocating for desegregation, the end to the Vietnam War, the United Farm Workers and several other human rights causes. Robert Kennedy became an iconic symbol of equity, social justice and economic parity as he spoke at hundreds of public events defending freedom for all.

Renaming the Tenth Street Plaza to Robert F. Kennedy Plaza will have a very positive impact on both the residents and leaders of Modesto. The renaming will serve as an inspiration to people from all political persuasions to exercise their First Amendment rights and speak their minds. Furthermore, it will give Modesto a more Progressive and cosmopolitan footprint that will entice outsiders to do business in Modesto.

Robert Kennedy had the courage of his convictions. He stood with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Cesar Chavez, the United Farm Workers, American laborers and the students who fought against the Vietnam War. And he never relented in his efforts. Modesto needs to have a public plaza that will inspire present and future generations of Modestans to fight for their own beliefs and to keep fighting and not give up. I cannot think of a plaza that would have more of a positive effect on the citizens of Modesto than one that is named for Robert F. Kennedy.

Please sign this petition calling for the renaming of Tenth Street Plaza to Robert F. Kennedy Plaza. By singing this petition, you are having a very positive effect on the future of Modesto. Robert F. Kennedy Plaza!
