Limit Back Gate Access to Residents inside of Normandy Shores Special Tax District

Limit Back Gate Access to Residents inside of Normandy Shores Special Tax District
Why this petition matters
Our gated community, known formally as the “Normandy Shores Special Taxing District”, was duly created in 1993 in accordance with Section 163.506 of the Florida Statutes as a safe neighborhood improvement district pursuant to the adoption of the City of Miami Beach Ordinance No. 93-2881. The ordinance outlines the purposes behind the creation of this tax district, which include restricting access to certain streets, promoting health and safety, reducing crime, and reducing traffic on our streets. Property owners within our gated community pay a special Ad Valorem tax for the security guards, gates, camera system and gate access system. In
order to achieve the purposes set forth in the ordinance, RESIDENTS ONLY GATES LOCATED at North Shore/Fairway Drives and at South Shore Drive and at Biarritz were designed as “Residents Only” gates. Any individuals residing outside of our gated community have always had, and will continue to have, the right to access our community through the “Visitors” gate at the main entrance on Biarritz Drive. The Board, along with a number of our residents, have requested that the City uphold and defend the 1993 ordinance for our tax district, and that the City limit the distribution of the new transmitters to residents and property owners within our gated community who pay the tax to
support the district.
We ask you (only residents that reside inside the gated community of Normandy Shores) sign this petition to show your support as we bring this issue to the City of Miami Beach on 3/18/2020
