Kyle Alexander started this petition to City of Manhattan Beach

I ask that the city of Manhattan Beach please repaint the broken yellow line (2 direction pass zone) to the previous double yellow line (no passing zone) on
Ardmore Ave between 15th and Pacific Ave and start enforcing the speed
limit.

I am informing the City of Manhattan Beach that on Ardmore Avenue
between 15th and Pacific ave there is a grave danger to the public and
residents of this street due to speeding vehicles. Recently the city
repaved this part of Ardmore Street and changed the existing double
yellow line (no passing zone) to a broken yellow line (2 direction
pass zone). I would ask that the City of Manhattan Beach return the
street to it’s previous status as a no pass zone by repainting it to a
double yellow line. I have lived on this street for 10 years and it
has always been a double yellow (no passing) zone. I have spoken to
many of my neighbors and we all feel that by the city has exacerbated
the danger of speeding vehicles by creating a passing zone. There is a
also a crosswalk at the 18th, 19th and Flournoy intersection on Ardmore and a blind
hill with curve that this passing zone goes right
through. In addition we have noticed in the last 2-3 days since
repainting to a passing zone about 5 cars passing at a dangerous 50-60mph.

This is a residential street with driveways that make it very
dangerous to back out when a
vehicle is traveling at such unsafe speeds. There are many homes on this
portion of Ardmore and
almost all families either have children, are senior citizens, or have
pets which all can benefit from
the margin of safety provided by cars traveling the posted speed limit
and not trying to pass.
