Bradley Boocher started this petition to Hopkins County Judge Exec City of Madisonville Kentucky and Hopkin County Judge Executive

This petition is to keep the statue in Madisonville, Kentucky. There is no reason to erase history. If you don’t learn from history you will repeat it.

Most people don’t even realize that Kentucky was one of the biggest and truest exceptions to the Civil War. While most states chose sides, Kentucky did not and remained-neutral. Kentuckians of the time we’re gifted the right to have their own voice heard and were able to choose what they fought for and what they believed in.That’s why this is unique and should not be torn down.

The more I read and learn about the opposing petition going around the more this really matters. The statement that it was “erected at a old hanging tree” is actually false and has been fact checked. It also states that it should be replaced with an American solider from Madisonville. The opposition may be surprised to learn that confederate soldiers did come from Madisonville therefore completely contradicts the argument to tear it down. This is not a symbol of hatred, nor racism, but a symbol of history that should not be forgotten. It also states that the statue represents a solider that turned his back on a country to fight for the opposition, which couldn’t be further from the truth. A true American Patriot stands up for what they believe in, which is exactly why I started this petition.

This isn’t about a statue, it’s more of a political stunt to show worthiness of a vote for a certain party, which is the true message of hate in a town that deserves better.

Sign the petition to keep Kentucky different from all the hate and division in the world today.
