I was recently involved in a head-on collision on Wonderland Rd N, in which a car heading in the other direction lost control, hopped the median, and hit my car head-on. Although I was aware of the dangers of driving on Wonderland Rd in London, ON, I chalked this experience up to a freak accident. Not even a month later, a second head-on collision had occurred again on Wonderland Rd occurring in the same fashion, in which a driver once again hopped a median to hit another driver driving in the opposite direction. This is not to mention the countless other major and minor accidents that have occurred and continue to occur on Wonderland Rd. 

Enough is enough. The communities around Wonderland Rd deserve to commute safely - whether it be in a vehicle, LTC, school bus, or as a pedestrian. How many more individuals must get hurt before something is done? 

There is a history of careless and reckless driving on Wonderland Rd, and I am calling upon the City of London and London Police specifically to enforce more stringent traffic laws and subsequently enforce these laws for a safer London West community. 

The problems that must be addressed on Wonderland Rd are as follows:

1) Enforcing speed limits in this area - photo radar speeding tickets would be a great way to penalize others not following the reported speed limits. 
2) Greater fines for speeding and distracted driving as a deterrent. 
3) Improving the medians, as the current medians are not effective in preventing head-on collisions. 

These are by no means extreme measures for the City of London to take to improve the safety of our community. 

Myself, as well as countless members of the London community, are tired of feeling unsafe along Wonderland Rd. This is an extremely high traffic area, and if nothing is done soon, it will only be a matter of time until this reckless driving results in a fatal accident.
