Stop penalizing students for going to school!

Palo Verde High School is one of the greatest schools in the state of Nevada. The same cannot be said about its parking lot.
Our school of nearly 3,200 students does not have the necessary parking to accomodate the vehicles of staff and students. Consequently, students are forced to park in the adjacent Veterans Leisure Center parking, where they are subject to fines and other violations for parking longer than the 3 hour maximum. The fines are issued by the City of Las Vegas.
No student should be pentalized for simply trying to attend school. As our parking lot is unable to meet the current demand, students have no choice but to park in the adjacent lot and face a fine of $20. Consequently, many students attempt to park other places, or move their cars between passing periods, and are late to class and miss critical instructional time. The Veterans Leisure Center parking lot is mostly empty during school hours. The City of Las Vegas has exploited this situation to raise ticket revenue off the backs of its own kids.
Today, we are calling on the City of Las Vegas to remove time limit parking on the Veteran Leisure Center lot. We are demanding that the City of Las Vegas prioritize the education of its own students over parking ticket revenue.
