Ryan Shaw started this petition to City of Lakeland Government

Red light cameras are more than a deterrent of reckless driving. It is a money making machine for the city. Knowing that a traffic signal is photo enforced often leads to drivers slamming on their brakes at a yellow light even if there is ample time to pass through only because they are scared of receiving a fine in the mail. This dangerous and unnecessary braking can cause rear end collisions, traffic congestion and frustration. There were also no increase in yellow times for proper pass through at these intersections. These cameras were installed collect revenue and to control. Generally, more safety is a good thing, but not at the expense of an unconstitutional and invasive system that encroaches on your freedom. Let the Lakeland City Government hear this and hear your voice by signing this petition.
