I am a long time resident of Lake city Florida. I have noticed all of the beautiful landscaping as well as strategic planning the city officials have been enacting and I believe it is all excellent improvement. Lake city is beginning to shine, from the view of Lake Desoto while driving through town to the upgraded parks. And including the beautiful exercise path around the lake with view of the red flowering trees and wildlife. The business owners uptown have outdone their selves as well beautifying their individual parts of our city. It is very inviting; However I am very concerned as lately there has been an increase in the homeless camping in these beautiful Public spaces (this has been confirmed by a sheriff I spoke to while considering this action).* Homeless encampments become a nuisance, and burden the community that they spring up in, as well as over burden law enforcement and have been known to cause safety Issues. I do have empathy for Homeless people and we have an assistance program we can direct the homeless to, as well as a soup kitchen and available charities, so we can still offer a hand up to people in desperate need.  The Goal is to keep Lake city beautiful inside and out.  Thank You for your support ~
