Keep the dog park near community center
For the past 12 months, we have had an amazing dog park tour happening in our community. At the Squawk Valley Park location as well as the location near the Issaquah Community Center. As I talk to other dog owners, I hear a consensus for the current location of the dog park tour (near the community center) to stay.
I personally visit this dog park almost daily. It is walkable for a large number of people and with the parking lot nearby, accessible for those that cannot walk to it. It's not only good for the dogs, but also for the community members that come with their furry friends. Having a place for our four-legged buddies to run without a lease close to home increases exercise for the dogs and mental downtime from the day for the owners.
This petition is to raise awareness for this need and if the city has no plans for this small plot of land, to leave it even after the dog park tour is completed and the new dog park at Tibbett’s is finished.
Having more than 2 dog parks in the City of Issaquah (Highlands and the future location at Tibbetts) increases accessibility for more areas of our community. I know due to the closeness of the current location near the Community Center, I take my dog much more often than I would if I had to drive her to another park. I am sure I am not alone in this.
