The continual excitement and growth of Irvine's recreational sports has created the need for a multi-court, multi-use community-based gymnasium. Irvine remains one of the only cities in Orange County without a public recreation center that includes indoor athletic courts. Sports such as basketball, volleyball, futsol, badminton and pickleball are forced to be played at private facilities or school gyms that are not always capable of accommodating the demand.

Enter the Heritage Community Park Master Plan. This is the perfect opportunity for the City of Irvine to make good on its past promises for a public recreational center and gymnasium. Heritage Park is easily accessible to all of Irvine – conveniently located off the 5 freeway and adjacent to Irvine HS and Woollett Aquatics Center.

Adding a gym to Heritage Park would provide Irvine's hard-working citizens with a place to participate in indoor sports, promote healthy lifestyles and encourage community-building activities.

Please sign and share this petition to help raise awareness for this growing need in the Irvine community, and join us on Monday, July 22nd (6 to 8 PM) at the Irvine High School Theater (4321 Walnut Ave) to share your input on the master plan!

Heritage Community Park Master Plan Background

The City of Irvine is currently developing a master plan for Heritage Community Park. This plan will focus on enhancing the services and facilities provided within the approximately 44-acre community park. Currently, Heritage Community Park offers a variety of activities and supports a range of recreational needs through facilities on-site, which include the Heritage Park Community Center, Irvine Fine Arts Center, Child Resource Center, numerous sports fields, play areas, and picnic areas.
