Allow Hudson Residents to Raise Backyard Chickens

There is a proposed law to allow backyard chickens to be raised in Hudson, NY. Support food freedom! As humans it is our birthright to be able to raise food for ourselves. This would allow us to become closer connected to our food sources, get fresh eggs and save money among other perks.

Roosters, ducks and guinea hen are excluded from this law. There are spacial requirements for the land as well as a standard of cleanliness to be maintained. Permits would be purchased through City Hall. Like any pet owner, you are expected to be responsible for the well being of your pet as well as being respectful to your neighbor.

You can show your support at any of the Common Council Meetings in June (held at City Hall) or you can write to your local Alderman to express yourself further. Go to for more info.

Thank you for your time.
