Change Houston's Recycling System From Single-Stream to Multi-Stream

We believe Houston's recycling system is lax and outdated. The single-stream, "One Bin For All" proposal causes strain on workers and contamination of recyclable materials, leaving Houston to recycle only 6% of the waste it collects, an embarrassing comparison to the national average of 34%. We believe Houston would benefit by switching to a multi-stream recyling system where recylable materials can be separated at people's homes and neighborhood drop-off sites. This system would require lower processing costs and result in less contamination of materials, which would overall boost Houston's recycling impact. We urge you to please consider ways to implement multi-stream recycling into Houston's recycling program.
