The Connecticut Technical Education and Career System Board has decided to eliminate the A. I. Prince Technical High School Bioscience and Environmental Class in an urban community.  Eliminating environmental education is actually going against recent recommendations presented in Connecticut Governor's Council On Climate Change.  These students will be profoundly impacted by climate change and face greater challenges.  For over three years, these students have  been instrumental in assisting Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, the Friends of Keney Park and the City of Hartford in cleanup projects, stocking thousands of trout and catfish, tree inventories, building habitat for birds, and water quality monitoring.  This partnership has provided accessibility to green spaces, outdoor hands-on experiences, and career development guidance.

The CTECS based a decision on the lack of students pursuing environmental careers.  Where is the data to support this?  The first graduation class has not completed college!

Please sign the petition to stop the elimination of the A. I. Prince Technical Bioscience and Environmental Class in the City of Hartford.
