Help save the Boys and Girls Club on Shell Road in Hampton, Virginia

The Boys and Girls Club on Shell Road needs our help! The City of Hampton and The Boys and Girls Club Headquarters are in negotiations over the sale of the building which currently houses the Shell Road center. The intent of the city is to convert the building into a fire station. In exchange for a center, the city has offered to build a "community room" within the fire station. Neighbors have expressed that a "room" will not adequately meet the needs of their community, especially when considering the large reach that the current Boys and Girls Club is serving. Parents in the neighborhood have shared that the Boys and Girls Club not only provides a supervised environment for their children, but a place where families receive physical, academic, and emotional support from staff members and community leaders. Children gather after school to do homework, play sports, meet friends, and build life-long mentoring relationships with the staff. The loss of this center would leave an indelible mark on the community, and these families need our help. Please take a minute to sign the petition, and let the Boys and Girls Club on Shell Road know that we are joining their efforts to keep their center open. Thank you!
