Preserve Park Life at Dundas Driving Park

This petition had 534 supporters

Our community needs you!  The City of Hamilton, with Councillor Arlene VanderBeek's support, plans on building a cemetery at the north end of the Dundas Driving Park on the former Parkside Secondary School land.  According to an article dated February 26, 2016 in The Hamilton News, "VanderBeek said a cemetery use is the only use for the Parkside site supported by municipal staff – and only reason city council would support buying it."  Furthermore, "[VanderBeek] said a cemetery will keep the property 'park-like' and under city ownership in perpetuity, ensuring a multi-storey residential development would not occur in the single family home residential area next to Dundas Driving Park."  We are asking those of you who think our Dundas Driving Park needs more consideration and community vision in this decision to sign this petition.  Respectfully, there has to be another viable solution than a cemetery on this valuable land.
