To The City of Greater Geelong,

This is a petition of concerned residents and business owners of the City of Greater Geelong requesting the city deny Planning Application PP 52/2017. Our concern is not the idea of a drug rehabilitation centre, but more so that the Application is for a residential rehabilitation facility in an established residential area in close proximity to primary schools, kindergardens/child care organisations, seniors facilities, playgrounds and many recreational facilities. The facility is in close proximity to four liquor outlets, out of which is visible from the proposed facility.

There has been a distinct lack of community consultation by the Applicant and neglible information in the public domain regarding the organisational structure and qualifications of those involved with 'Habitat Therapeutics' (a for-profit organisation), nor important logistical and capacity details of the proposed facility. We are extremely concerned about a lack of regulatory safeguards to ensure community safety and the accountability of the Applicant to the community in the event a patient relapses.

Therefore, the Petitioners respectfully request that the City of Greater Geelong refuse to grant this Application.
